This painting of two badgers with bluebells is a limited edition drypoint hand-made print, each individually tinted with watercolour.
The badgers are shown wood anemones - such bright early harbingers of spring - and bluebells. There's also a pearl-bordered fritillary butterfly one of the first wood-dwelling butterflies to emerge.
This is a drypoint print, tinted with watercolour. The edition is limited to 11 numbered and signed versions. They're all slightly different, as you'd expect with a handmade works of art.
Each is printed by hand using a 'plate' I make myself from soft polypropylene. I draw and scratch into it with an etching needle to create incised marks. I ink up this plate, place a piece of damp heavy duty paper on top, run it through the press - and hey presto! - you get a handmade print! After the ink has dried, I tint each image with watercolour so that each one is a slightly different and absolutely unique original piece.
